Open Mic Thursday 2nd October

Our next Open Mic on Thursday 2nd October features ‘Organic’ a new exhibition of work by photographer Nataša Jandrić.

MC for the evening – poet Martin Sanderson

Nataša was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, former Yugoslavia. She moved to London in mid 90’s where she gained a BA in Media and Communications studies. Natasa’s work centres on fine art and social documentary photography, experimenting with the boundary between photography and art. She has exhibited in London, Belgrade and Sarajevo. Natasa lives and works in London.

“Having two homes (UK and Bosnia) I like to explore those two totally different cultures, often combining them into one. We often belong to more then one place or state of mind, sometimes belonging, sometimes being total outsiders and observers. “Organic” is this third space we all create for ourselves; space we like to call home.”

She has exhibited widely in Poland, and this will be her first London show.

This month we feature THE RHYTHM OF LIFE – A new show of art works by SHIRI ACHU

FB event

Shiri Achu’s art comes from everyday, unsurprising yet unexpectedly vivid moments, times, places. She draws insight/inspiration from her travels, natural moments captured in Africa, the human form, the human in action.

Ever increasingly so, one of the aims of Shiri Achu’s Art is to showcase the African cultures worldwide and to bring back fond memories to Africans in the diaspora. She finds beauty in the woman carrying her child on her back and going her way, she finds beauty in the old lady making ‘atchu’ in her dark outdoor kitchen for her grandchildren…

Shiri has been fortunate to have exhibited in various exciting places/events/cities. These include; The Commonwealth Secretariat, The houses of Parliament and The Olympic African Village. Cities include; Adelaide, Lisbon, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Las Vegas and Chiang Mai. Shiri’s recent solo exhibition at The Strand Gallery was a great success.

Shiri Achu Art has also been featured in the book ‘’International Contemporary Masters VII’ (Published by World Wide Art Books) as well as in numerous magazines, blogs, TV shows such as BBC TV Show ‘Show me the Monet’ Series 2. Her art works also sell at The Smithsonian / The National museum of African Art in Washington DC.

Today, Shiri Achu is excited to present Signed Limited Edition prints at The Windmill, for Creative Cricklewood, and for one month, ‘The Rhythm of Life’.

Open Mic & Art Show. 7pm, 3rd April 2014

This Thursday April 3rd from 7pm at The Windmill – 57 Cricklewood Broadway, Cricklewood, NW2 3JX

Featuring a new exhibition by emerging local artists Holly Stenhouse & Ranalph Kaine

Arrive early from 7pm to view the art, before the music starts at 8pm – with MC CALM CARL CHAMBERLAIN.  Performers should sign in from 7pm

Ranalph Kaine is a Kilburn based artist working in a range of media. His work deals with worlds both seen & unseen

The focus of Holly Stenhouse’s recent work reflects an ongoing engagement with surface and detail of everyday objects and artefacts. Having recently completed a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at Barnet & Southgate College, Holly has continued to explore the use of traditional and non-traditional tools and materials and processes, in particular print-making and sculpture. The subject matter of her work concerns her attempt at recapturing an image or object by creating multi layers with a range of media and processes that obscures the original representation and becomes visually ambiguous. The pure physicality of manipulation and experimentation with mixed media is, for Holly, thoroughly absorbing and has been a stimulus for the development of her current work.

The exhibition continues through April. Any artists wishing to show their work in the future please email us for more details.
